You must add your printed product to your cart first. After ordering your printed product (digital, letterpress, foiled etc) add your Custom Die Cutting to your order.
Please check out this article first if you're not sure whether you need a custom die cut.
1. New or Existing die?
Select if you are ordering a new die or an existing one.
If you've ordered the same custom shape before - but your new die is a different size then you must order a NEW die. (For example a custom oval shape in A6 and the new custom oval shape is A5.)
NOTE: If you've previously ordered a custom die with "Digital Only Standard Thickness Stock" but you want to die cut a job that is printed on double thick stock, letterpress, foil or embossing you'll need to upgrade to a NEW Traditional Die for that order.
Traditional Digital or Laser Die Cutting. What's the Difference?
2. Create and upload a vector die line.
How to set up artwork for your custom die cut shape.
We can only create a die from a vector file (Illustrator PDF).
Please make sure your dieline is 0.5pt, Red (0/100/100/0 CMYK) and made up of a continuous line. Show score lines in Cyan (100/0/0/100 CMYK).
A) NEW custom dies - Upload your custom VECTOR die line file (pdf or Illustrator file).
B). EXISTING custom dies - Just write in the comments the name of the existing die you have ordered with Peterkin previously.
3. Die Line Name
This is the name we will give to your custom die line. If ordering again (existing die), please type the EXACT SAME NAME.
4. Mockup
Upload a 1 page pdf file with a mockup of your die cut job showing the die line superimposed on top of the print file.
Be sure to order your printing and die cutting in the same size. i.e. if you order A5 printing, order A5 die cutting.
We cannot EDGE FOIL any item that is die cut.
If you're not sure if your die line will work as intended
We highly recommend testing your die line with a mockup at home and a custom die cut sample.
You can always send us the artwork to check it meets our guidelines, but we can't test whether your die cut will work correctly i.e. a box, a custom envelope etc. We're unable to tell you whether your die line will function as intended.
Intricate shapes (Laser only)
We can die cut most shapes, but very complex shapes are not suitable for traditional die cutting. We can advise you before placing your order if your dieline is suitable.
Testing before investing
You can also test an idea for a traditional die by ordering a digital sample before investing in a physical die. This is crucial if you're unsure of the results of your die or whether your die line will function as intended.
Reording the same shape but a different size
If you've ordered the same custom shape before - but your new die is a different size then you must order a NEW die. (For example a custom oval shape in A6 and the new custom oval shape is A5, or ordering the die cut shape for a printed flat card and then again for large format printing.)
Any changes made to an existing die line no longer makes it existing but now a new custom die line.
