Setting up your design for a scored (folded) card is easy!
But no matter your finished (folded size) you must make your artwork the 'flat size' dimensions.
Scroll down to learn how to set up and supply your artwork correctly.
You can create cards that are scored once like a tent place card or greeting card style, or that have extra scores to make a three panel gatefold, a three panel 'table talker', or four panel z-fold brochure style.
We have scored cards as standard items available to order on our website from place card size (90x100mm up to A5 148x210mm). You can create Custom die cut scored items with a flat size of A3 (297x420mm)
Design tips from the Printery Peeps
- Think of your design as the flat size (as that's how it's printed).
- For single sided scored (folded) cards create a 1 page PDF
- For double sided scored (folded) cards create a 2 page PDF.

For example, a 90x100mm Place Card (90x50mm folded size) The flat size is double the folded width (H100mm x W90mm. We score down to W90 x H50mm) Use a guideline in your design program to mark the centre point where the score/fold will be (don't draw a line on the actual artwork as it will print). Then you can visualise the back area and front area of your place card. |
|
For example, a 120x180mm scored (folded) card. The flat size is double the width - 240mm x 180mm. Use a guideline in your design program to mark the centre point where the score/fold will be (don't draw a line on the actual artwork as it will print). Then you can visualise the back, front, inside left and inside right of your card. |
Three panel cards
When ordering our three and four panel cards you'll see an illustration showing the score positions for that size.
|
For example, a 105x148mm 3 panel scored card.
Our three panel cards are scored as a gatefold. Because the end panel folds inside, it needs to be a tiny bit thinner than the other two panels so that it folds nicely. Use a guideline in your design program to mark the two points where the scores/folds will be (don't draw lines on the actual artwork as they will print). All our panel cards have a graphic showing the score position. Then you can visualise the back, front, outside centre, inside left, inside centre, and inside right of your card.

95x210mm 'table talker' Easy-peasy! The three panels that make up our triangular 'table talker' are all 95mm + a 20mm tab. Leave the tab area blank (no design) as a digital toner coating may make it harder to stick. Single sided only. Supplied flat and unglued ready for you to assemble. We recommend using a strong double-sided tape and press firmly. Only available in 95x210mm (DL) size. Contact Customer Service if you'd like a different size to see if it's possible.
Four panel cards
|
For example, a 99x210mm 4 panel scored card. The flat size is four-times the width - 396mmx210mm. Our four panel cards are scored as z-fold style.
Use a guideline in your design program to mark the three points where the score/fold will be (don't draw a line on the actual artwork as it will print). All our panel cards have a graphic showing the score position.
