Can I print in white ink + Digital Gold or Silver on the same page?

Yes, you certainly can. The way you set up your artwork for this print method is a little different to white ink printing only, or white ink + CMYK.

Here’s how you do it in Illustrator (you must name the spot colours exactly). Make sure your document profile is CMYK (not RGB) and your colour mode is also CMYK.

Digi Gold + White

Elements to be printed in Digital Gold should be a Red spot colour (CMYK 0/100/100/0) and named: Gold

Elements to be printed in White Ink should be a Magenta spot colour (CMYK 0/100/0/0) and named: White

Digi Silver + White

Elements to be printed in Digital Silver should be a Cyan spot colour (CMYK 100/0/0/0) and named: Silver

Elements to be printed in White Ink should be a Magenta spot colour (CMYK 0/100/0/0) and named exactly: White

If you’re using Canva (which can’t create spot colours) use these Hex values for Gold or Silver instead:

Gold: #ff0000 (Red)

Silver: #00ffff (Cyan)

White: #ff00ff (Magenta)

If you're designing in Canva for white ink + Digital Gold or Silver, then you MUST download your PDF with RGB as the Color Profile. (This is different to all our other print processes when you must download as CMYK for more accurate colour results).

We print a double-hit of white toner when printing in white ink only BUT we can’t print a double hit of white ink if also printing Gold or Silver. This means that the white ink component of the design won't be as saturated/crisp as usual.
