Make your design shine!
What is Digital Flat Foil? (also known as Toner Reactive Foiling or Sleeking)
Just like traditional Hot Foil Press, Digital Flat Foil applies a thin layer of heat reactive metal foil to card. BUT whereas Hot Foil Press requires an expensive magnesium block of your design to stamp the foil into your chosen stock, Digital Flat Foil uses a 100% black digital print which the foil adheres to when heat is applied.
Why choose Digital Flat Foil?
- QUICK: Because it’s a digital process it’s quicker for our team to turnaround your order.
- PRICE POINT: There’re no physical plates to be made, so it’s less expensive and time-consuming too.
- VARIABLE DATA: It's a digital printing process so you can have a different name or design on each piece. It’s perfect for personalising menus, greeting cards etc.
- LITTLE DETAILS: Create more detailed designs with thinner strokes compared to traditional Hot Foil Press.
- REAL METAL FOIL: Digital Flat Foil is very shiny – there’s no mistaking it’s foil. It's next level compared to Digital Gold printing.
- LUXE CHOICE: Available on select Peterkin card weight stocks with white, cream and pastel colours available.
- RECYCLE: Our Digital Flat Foil is printed without plastic lamination so when you've finished with your printing, the card can be put in your household recycling bin.
Did you know?
Digital Flat Foiling usually requires a lamination process that coats the surface of the card stock with a polymer film that makes the card more durable – but also renders it unable to be recycled. 😫
Lamination makes the card super smooth, but also slightly alters its colour (making the paper look more muted and paler) and fills in any texture - it leaves a rubbery feel to the card.
Once laminated you can't tell the quality of the card or how it feels. This is why most printers only offer one type of cheaply produced smooth white stock for Digital Flat Foiling.
Peterkin's Digital Flat Foil is different

So, after extensive testing, we developed a unique way to achieve great results without the lamination process on a selection of Peterkin’s gorgeous smooth stocks!
