Traditional Hot Foil Press
A traditional print method created on our vintage Heidelberg presses, where metallic foil is applied to the surface of your chosen card or paper using heat and pressure. We turn your PDF design into a negative used to etch onto a magnesium block. The block is heated up and the foil placed between the block and the card to be stamped/pressed.
Due to a combination of the time and costs involved in set-up, as well as the manufacture of blocks, minimum run is 50.
Digital Flat Foil
Just like traditional Hot Foil Press, Digital Flat Foil applies a thin layer of heat reactive metal foil to the card, but whereas Hot Foil Press requires a magnesium block of your design to stamp the foil onto your chosen stock, Digital Flat Foil uses a 100% black digital print which the foil adheres to when heat is applied. Digital Flat Foil is also known as Toner Reactive Foiling or Sleeking - and with its real-metal shine, its next level compared to Digital Gold Printing.
You can have Digital Flat Foil on its own or combine with CMYK Colour / black printing. Digital Flat Foil is not suitable to use with traditional printing methods like Letterpress.
Digital Gold and Silver
A digital printing type using dry toner directly printed onto paper/card without the need to create expensive printing plates.
With no plates to make we can also print variable data, do short runs, and print samples for you.
Please understand the difference in the finished product and be realistic with your expectations (and manage those of your clients!). There's a reason Hot Foil Press costs more sparkly, glamorous and with unrivalled luxury.
Digital Gold and Silver are amazing too.... pretty and shimmery...... but definitely not in the same league as Hot Foil Press. Please don't expect to be able to match Digital Gold to Hot Foil gold - they look very different.
You can only print Gold OR Silver on the same piece – not a combination of both.
Designs incorporating Digital White with Digital Gold or Silver
We usually print a double hit of white when printing in white ink only BUT we cannot print a double hit of white ink if also printing digital gold or silver. This means that the white ink component of the design won't be as saturated/crisp as usual.
