Indie Handmade is a unique paper. Each sheet is individually made by hand from 100% cotton rags.
Design Set Up Rules
- We can only print from PDF files. Make sure your artwork is high resolution or ‘print ready’.
- Please supply all artwork at the correct size. Ensure your design is in millimetres, (mm) programs like Canva default to pixels (px) which is very different!
- All design elements should be at least 10mm from the edge.
- We can't print full bleed or to the edge of the sheet due to the uneven, deckled edges of the stock.
- Make sure your downloaded (Canva) or saved PDF file is in CMYK colour format.
Design Tips
- Avoid large areas of flat colour, especially in light colours, as it's almost impossible to achieve a nice flat, uniform colour due to the highly textured nature of the stock.
- We can't score Indie Handmade as the deckled edges means it won't feed through our machine. If you wish to score it yourself, you can do so with a bone scorer or similar.
- Due to the handmade process there are inconsistencies in each and every sheet. Due to the natural deckle edges, the sheets can be slightly different in sizes.
- You may see variations in the print across a run. With digital printing the cards may be slightly skewed due to the feed and less dense in colour over the extra thin areas. For letterpress, although the pressure applied to the plate is the same with each impression, the different thicknesses of paper can mean slight filling in on small areas of type where the stock is thicker and very light impression or very light (and even sometimes missing) areas for the thin areas.
- We allow for and don't supply the obvious sheets that cannot be read or are terribly skewed, we suggest you design with this in mind and avoid lines and borders.
For Letterpress on Indie Handmade please supply your artwork as 100% black CMYK 0/0/0/100 or #000000 in Canva.
