PMS colours (Pantone Colour Matching System) refer to the system used by the printing industry to print 'spot colours' that print a specific colour.
Pantone colours were used extensively before digital printing was invented.
Letterpress Printing
We use Pantone inks for our letterpressing and these are specially mixed by hand! You can order one, two or three different colours, each design counts as an extra PMS plate.
Digital printing
Peterkin prints digital colour (including black designs) using 4 colours CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black).
We can't print specific spot colours (that's a very different and expensive form of printing), so all your colour printing is made of different percentages of CMYK to get a close approximation.
Good to know
Some of our digital printing requires you to create a spot colour which is referenced by our digital printers to use white ink, gold or silver toners. The colour of the spot colour (and the artwork in that colour) has no relevance to the colour of actual printing.
