What is the difference between cover weight (card) and text weight (paper)?

Cover weight card stock is much thicker than text weight. Cover weight is similar to what a file folder is constructed of, while the text weight is more akin to high quality printer paper.

We use the cover weight to manufacture our pockets, folded cards, die-cuts, while the text weight is used for envelopes, liners, and belly bands.
